HOW TO MAKE A GOOD BRICKFILM
1. Get a good lighting. Do not use natural light.
2. Getting a table would be more helpful, but you can also place your scene on the ground.
3. Tape your base plate to the ground, or at least something to hold it still.
4. Either get a tripod or a webcam to keep your camera still. I would recommend a webcam like the Logitech C910. A stop motion test from youtube using the Logitech C910 is shown above. All the crradit for the video goes to ZenithRadProductions.
5. Get a background cloth or board. You want it to blend in with the scene.
6. For beginners, I would suggest starting a 5-8 frames per second.(FPS) When you get more intermediate, go into 15-18 FPS. And when you really got the hang of stop motion, 24-30 FPS.
7. A good stop motion program I would suggest is Monkeyjam for digital camera users, and HeliumFrog for webcam users. There are more programs, but these are free and popular.
8. Think of an ORIGINAL IDEA!!! Don't try to steal other people's work. If you see an idea you like from another stop motion, tweak around a little to make it your own! You can also get ideas from your everyday life!
9. Remember where you placed your last movement. In HeliumFrog, there is a tool called onion skin which allows you to see where you last made a movement, so that's really helpful!
10. Try not to touch your camera or webcam too much. You might accidently move it and disrupt the video. One minute the video is going smoothly, then suddenly the view changes and ruins your video.
11. Check onto Youtube on how to mask and add effects. Adding sound effects and voices also make your video even better!
12. Have fun! If you don't like doing stop motion, why are you reading this!
